Westminster Women's Wrestling Team Competes in NWCA College Open National Championship

Louisville, KY, 1/7/2021- The Westminster College women's wrestling team traveled to Louisville, Kentucky to compete in the NUWAY College Open National Championships against some of the best D2, D3, JUCO, and NAIA schools in the country.

Tristan Folkner (Florissant, MO / McCluer North) competed in the women's 143-pound weight class and got sixth overall and scored four team points. After receiving a bye, Folkner would face Michelle Camacho (McKendree University) in the semi-final round. Camacho would pin Folkner at the 1:46 mark and send her to the consolation semi-final match. 

In the next round Folkner faced off against Jazzmine Seely (McKendree University) with Seely winning by pinfall at the 2:19 mark. After the loss, Folkner would compete for 5th place against Rebekah Chavez (Life University).

Folkner would lose by tech fall 16-4 and finish the open in 6th overall.

The Westminster Women's Wrestling team will take the mats again on Saturday, February 12th in the McKendree University open.
