Blue Jays Split On Day Two Of Hanover Invitational

Hanover, IN 9/16/2022- The Westminster volleyball competed on day two of the 2022 Hanover College Invitational. They played Hanover College in game one and lost in four sets (15-25,25-16,19-25,13-25). In game two, they faced Kenyon College and would win in five sets. The Jays go to 7-6 on the season.

Game one: Vs Hanover College

The Blue Jays would lose the first two sets (15-25.16-25) and win the third set 25-19. Hanover would win the match in the fourth set 25-13 to win the match 3-1.

Malena Bixby (New Berlin, IL/ New Berlin) led the Jays with ten kills, Eryka Wanyonyi (Columbia, MO/Hickman) would have nine kills and Haley Menke (O'Fallon, Mo. / Fort Zumwalt West) would have eight. Setter Kate Rable (Saint Peters, Mo. / Fort Zumwalt South) collected eighteen assists. Sophie Reimer (St. Charles, MO / Lutheran) led with twelve digs, Bixby would have ten digs, and Gracie Henrikson (Athens, IL / Athens) would also have ten digs.

Game two: Vs Kenyon College

In game two the Blue Jays would defeat the Owls in five sets.

Bixby was named to the 2022 Hanover College Invitational all-tournament team.

The Blue Jays will be back in action on Tuesday, September 20th when they host the Principia College Panthers.  That game will begin at 6 PM.
