CARLINVILLE, Ill. - Westminster softball secures at least the No. 2 seed for the SLIAC tournament with the sweep against Blackburn.
The wins mark the eighth in a row for Westminster, and the squad improves to 21-11 overall and 14-2 in the conference.
Alyson Hahn started on the mound in game one, pitching her fourth straight shutout game, allowing just two hits and stiking out seven.
Katie Price started on the mound in game two, giving up just two runs on three hits.
Burney kept up her hot hitting streak in game two, hitting an RBI double to score two runs in the first inning.
Blackburn got two runs back in the second, but a big fifth inning for the Blue Jays was enough to end the game after five innings.
McKenzie Meyers started the scoring with a single to score two runs. Errors by the Beavers led to four more runs in the inning to give Westminster the 10-2 win.
Westminster plays a nonconference matchup against Central Methodist Tuesday before playing No. 1 Greenville at home. The winner will win the regular sesaon and receive the top seed for the conference tournament.
